This year’s “Campus Weeks” – sponsored by the German Embassy Washington – presents a series of events directed at undergraduates at US universities and colleges. This year’s topic “Shaping Germany” focuses on the internal factors that are contributing to what Germany will look like in 20, 30 or 50 years. Events include a lecture series with national and international presenters, a bi-weekly film series on the topic of migration, and a self-guided poster exhibit. You are invited to join a discussion with Eddie Ide from the Berlin Airlift Veterans Association as he speaks about the series of events that took place between June 24, 1948 and May 12th, 1949 and that have come to be known as the Berlin Airlift. He shares details of how the U.S., the UK and France responded to the Soviet blockade of land access to West Berlin by airlifting food and fuel to the isolated sectors.
