Former German Federal Minister of Education and Research Annette Schavan on "Technical Skill Training as Catalyst for Innovation"

How can education contribute to creativity and innovation today? This is a question that is being asked and addressed by education policy in Germany and the US. Vocational education and training in Germany has been a successful model for decades: The economy and the public education system work hand in hand, companies invest in in-company training, vocational schools supplement training with subject-related and general education, and the promotion of talent is a central task in both vocational and academic education.
Annette Schavan is a German politician. She was the Federal Minister of Education and Research in the government of Chancellor Angela Merkel and served as the German Ambassador to the Holy See.
