Fifty million Americans have German roots. What are their personal family stories and how do these reflected across the U.S.? For this project historians of the German Emigration Center in Bremerhaven (GEC) conduct interviews with local German-Americans on their own emigration experience or on their German-American family history. GEC will also talk to students about the immigrant experience in general, touching on themes such as home, belonging, and diversity. This workshop is tailored towards local German-Americans, who will have the opportunity to tell their own personal immigration stories and to share family narratives.
