Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts hosts two Settlers of Catan board game tournaments during the 2018/2019 school year. Invented in 1995 by Klaus Teuber, Catan is currently ranked as one of the most popular board games in the U.S., and even has Game of Thrones, Star Trek, and Silicon Valley editions. This fun gaming night is combined with a panel discussion on issues raised in the game: the German settlement history in the U.S., migration and integration, agricultural and sustainability practices, and trade between the U.S. and Germany.
