You are invited for a reading and discussion by German author Thorsten Nagelschmidt and his translator Tim DeMarco presenting Nagelschmidt’s novel For what it’s worth.
The book tells the story of bohemian bartender Meise who embarks on a journey after an unexpected inheritance. After road-tripping across America and partying all over Europe, he finally sets out to a vineyard in rural West Germany. There he is confronted with a culture shock unlike any other. Tragic yet entertaining, with acute observations and no shortage of black humor, Nagelschmidt allows his (anti)hero to fail – by his own hand or others’ is up to the reader to decide.
