Bauhaus and Beyond: Exploring the Legacy in the 21st Century is a 3-day interdisciplinary symposium organized in celebration of the Bauhaus’ centennial that highlights the tremendous global influence of one of the world’s most innovative art and design schools and movements.
The German Immersion Day is conceived as an extension of the Bauhaus Symposium and includes workshops dealing with German immigrants, German-American history, German architecture in Chicagoland and in the USA, as well as music, food, and films. Highlights include an interactive exploration of the exhibit The Whole World a Bauhaus at the Elmhurst Art Museum, and the talk Bauhaus Translated: Transcultural Encounters with the Avant-Garde School.
