Goethe Pop Up Minneapolis: Screening of "The Nuclear Football" and "Reflecting Absence"

The Nuclear Football (2004) documents a state visit of then US-President George W. Bush in Berlin. The narrator of the documentary reveals details of the behind-the-scenes security measures. These confidential revelations provide insights into what’s happening behind the scenes of political power, or right before our eyes.
In Reflecting Absence Korpys and Löffler use Super-8 film recordings to picture the memorial to victims of the terror attacks in New York on September 11, 2001. The images are accompanied by the piece Two Emotions composed by Helmut Lachenmann and by soundtracks recorded on the spot, each digitally processed .
