Goethe-Institut Washington DC presents Aguirre, Wrath of God (1972) by German director Werner Herzog at Landmark’s West End Cinema. The movie is set in 1560’s Peru. Driven by hunger for power and wealth, a troop of conquistadors led by Lope de Aguirre journey through the Amazonian jungle in search of the legendary city of El Dorado. However, their journey quickly falls victim to famine, illness, violence, and madness.
