The Year of German-American Friendship is a great opportunity to raise awareness of German-language literature in the English-speaking world. To this end, the branches of the Goethe-Institut in the USA are showcasing contemporary German-language literature throughout the year. Events featuring German-speaking authors are being staged at different places around the USA as part of the Books First program.
For this event German author and publisher Jo Lendle reads from his book All the Land about German polar researcher Alfred Wegener. The book chronicles Wegener’s extraordinary journey from his childhood in Germany to the most unforgiving corner of the planet, thereby telling the story of this great adventurer and of the experiences that shaped him.
