Exhibit Opening: "The Medea Insurrection: Radical Women Artists Behind the Iron Curtain"

In the years before the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, East European writers and painters often turned to ancient mythology when they wanted to express their discontent with Communist rule. The Insurrection of Medea exhibit displays their interpretations of mythological figures like Medea, Cassandra, or Penthesilea that were crucial in shaping contemporary images for women.
The Wende Museum celebrates the opening of exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The opening reception includes a guided tour and a panel discussion.
