German theater director Thomas Ostermeier has co-adapted Édouard Louis’ French novel History of Violence for its German-language theatre premiere at the Schaubühne Berlin.
The autobiographical novel with its reconstruction of a traumatic night is both a personal and penetrating social analysis of coming of age, desire, migration and racism.
The play is presented at St. Ann’s Warehouse in New York from November 13 until Dezember 1.
