Screening groundbreaking new films from Germany, the annual German Currents Film Festival is a fixture in the Los Angeles cultural scene. This year’s festival kicks off with a red carpet LA premiere of Andreas Dresen’s multi-award winning Film, Gundermann, followed by a Q&A with Andreas Dresen, and a gala reception. The festival weekend continues with Next Generation Short Tiger 2019, the US premiere of Writer-Director Christian Klandt’s offbeat comedy Leif In Concert VOL. 2, the LA Premiere of Writer-Director Sven Taddicken’s drama The Most Beautiful Couple, a free children’s matinee of Katja Benrath’s inspirational film, Rocca Changes The World, the LA Premiere of Writer-Director Hans Weingartner’s acclaimed road movie, 303, and the US Premiere of Writer-Director David Nawrath’s dramatic thriller, The Mover. Each program includes discussions with filmmakers and talent following the screenings. In addition to the film screenings, German Currents 2019 will honor Andreas Dresen with a special A Tribute To conversation with the acclaimed German director.
