Though Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is most famous for his poetry and writings (Faust, The Sorrows of Young Werther), he also established a theory of colors in art which has been widely published and cited in the art world. His findings from Theory of Colors will be discussed in the presentation by Tanya Kelley Ph.D., a painter and adjunct professor of German. She will explore the color science and theories used in many art pieces, including the installation Haze/Trübe from the Chicago-based artist collective Luftwerk, another Goethe-Pop Up exhibit.
