The exhibition from local photographer David Beckers featurs photographs from the German Rhine and Lower Rhine area. With familial ties to Germany, Beckers‘ exhibition documents an American’s journey to connect with his heritage. Focusing on the details and minutiae of everyday life, With an Eye on Germany emphasizes the idea that by exploring universal commonalities and avoiding the temptation to sightsee, one can better reconnect with their roots. A fourth generation German-American, Beckers‘ photography is inspired by the work of documentary photographers such as Walker Evans, Alfred Eisenstadt, Gary Winogrand, and Baldwin Lee. He currently lives and works in Kansas City as a commercial photographer and designer.
Opening on First Friday, April 5, 2019: 6pm to 9pm.
Regular opening hours: Tuesday through Saturday 12 to 6pm.
