German publicist and fake news expert, Alexander Sängerlaub, who works for the Berlin-based think tank Stiftung Neue Verantwortung (Foundation for New Responsibility), comes to Seattle for a panel discussion on the Topic of Measuring Fake News. The term “fake news” has become a terminology used daily in media referring to unreliable news, untrustworthy reporting and is thus undermining public trust in public media. Alexander Sängerlaub sheds light onto the question: What exactly are fake news? Exploring the terminology in a transnational framework, a panel of invited guests will discuss how we can reduce the growth of echo chambers, refocus on a consensus on truth, and mitigate the rapid spread of misinformation.
