The Nazi regime forbade the Jewish artist Fritz Ascher to paint, so he resorted to pen and paper. The Gray Art Gallery in cooperation with the Fritz Ascher Society shows pictures and poems by the expressionist persecuted by the National Socialists (1893-1970).
As part of the program flanking the exhibition
Donna Cameron of NYU Tisch School of Arts brings her class The Politics of Portraiture to the exhibition to discuss Fritz Ascher’s art.
