In the summer of 1948 the Soviet Union blocked all routes to West Berlin. When two million people were cut off from access to food and raw materials the US decided to airlift supplies to the enclave – for over a year. 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. This chapter in the history of US-German relations continues to serve as a shining example of America’s commitment to European security and its efforts to promote freedom and democracy around the world. On the occasion of this anniversary, the Wunderbar Together PopUp Tour showcases a traveling exhibit from the Allied Museum in Berlin.
