What do people from both sides of the Atlantic associate with the term freedom? How important is freedom for each and every individual, what does it mean for our societies? Are we ready to stand up for our own freedom and that of others? We have asked politicians, artists and entrepreneurs from both sides of the Atlantic to talk to us about this important social achievement. We also want to take a closer look at the often cited Western values. In these often challenging times for transatlantic relations, we want to know: how strong is the common foundation of values on which our partnership was built?
The conversations showed that freedom is not just a philosophical and political issue, but a very personal one for many of our interviewees.
